Scalp Micropigmentation

What Is Scalp Micropigmentation?

Scalp Micropigmentation is a revolutionary, non-surgical alternative that is recommended for patients who are not candidates for hair transplant or are interested in a non-invasive treatment. It can also be combined with hair transplant in patients with poor donor area to make the transplanted hair appear fuller.

Patients with scarring, more specifically the linear scar left after the strip method, can benefit from this procedure as the pigmentation can hide the scar.

Scalp Micropigmentation is performed by our certified micropigmentation specialists under the supervision of our board certified surgeon, Dr. Jarrous.

The permanent, all-natural pigment is color matched to your hair and applied directly to the skin, creating thousands of tiny pigmented dots, replicating the natural appearance of real hair follicles.

The pigment itself is organic and does not contain any harmful chemicals or metallic ingredients traditionally found in tattoo ink. As a result, there is no concern for the color to distort or fade over time. These unique pigments also naturally age with your hair, blending in if you begin to gray. Since the pigments applied don't penetrate the skin as deep as traditional tattooing, pain is minimal.

Combining Scalp Micropigmentation With Hair Transplant

A Scalp Micropigmentation/Hair Transplant combination procedure is a great solution, offering the density of micropigmentation with the texture of real hair.

Patients require three to four sessions, seven to ten days apart. The length of the first two sessions can take anywhere from two to four hours. The third and fourth session may last as little as forty-five minutes, up to two hours. After the procedure, patients will have mild redness that will subside within the first few days. The final result occurs two to four weeks after your final procedure, as it takes time for the pigments to settle into the scalp and blend in. The result is a 3D visual illusion of natural-appearing hair.

Is Scalp Micropigmentation Treatment Safe?

Average tattoo inks and permanent makeup pigments are made up of blue, green and purple constituent colors. When they’re broken down by your immune system or by ultraviolet rays from the sun, the black ink separates and changes color. On the scalp, this change can take less than a couple of months.

Scalp Aesthetics pigments are 100% organic with no color additives. They cannot break down into other colors because they contain no constituent colors. This is critical because our ink will never turn blue.

We only use "Scalp Aesthetics" needles and machines

These needles are 75% smaller than commercially available needles, resulting in smaller follicle replications and more realistic results. In addition, we use machines from scalp aesthetics that has a longer stroke to achieve better results than your average permanent makeup machines. By hitting the top layer of the skin,

A longer stroke means more ink deposited and less fading, fewer sessions.

Post Procedure Care

The scalp redness and irritation can last from 24 to 72 hours. However, there is no pain. We recommended that you avoid swimming and exercise for 7 to 10 days following the procedure. You may begin grooming your hair with an electric razor with no guard after 5-7 days.

It is essential that you stay away from the sun, it can break down the pigments and lead to fading of the pigment color. Therefore, we recommend that you wear a hat or apply sunscreen (SPF 30 with zinc oxide) to protect your scalp from harmful UV rays. It will take up to 4 weeks for the pigments to thoroughly blend in and achieve the final color.

Expected Cost

The cost of scalp micropigmentation depends on the location and size of the desired treatment area. Patients with extensive hair loss may require few sessions to complete the procedure.
