WHAT IS PLATELET-RICH PLASMA (PRP)?
As a stand-alone treatment, PRP has shown to slow the progress of balding and hair loss, and in some cases reverse the hair loss. This type of treatment is especially beneficial for men and women with an early stage of hair loss. After one syringe of blood is removed from the patient, similar to drawing blood for labs, the blood is placed into a centrifuge called the Harvest system. After centrifuging, the platelet can multiply their growth factors up to ten times their natural rate. This platelet-rich plasma is then injected into the thinning hair site or the transplanted hair site to promote healing and stimulate the regeneration of the hair follicle.
How Do Stem Cells Treat Hair Loss?

Donors go through a comprehensive screening process and are tested in accordance with standards established by FDA requirements to minimize risks of disease transmission to recipients.
Amarillo Hair Restoration Center is proud to offer stem cells, derived from the Wharton's jelly of the umbilical cord. The Wharton's jelly is a gelatinous substance in the umbilical cord that provides cushioning and support to the umbilical vein and arteries.
The umbilical cord has three folds more viable stem cells and cytokines in comparison to bone marrow and adipose tissue stem cells. In addition, the umbilical cord cells are broadly multipotent, capable of differentiating into adipose, osteogenic, myogenic and endothelial cell lineage.
Umbilical cord stem cells can be used in hair restoration treatments in combination with PRP to stimulate, rejuvenate and repair the hair follicles. This combination is way more potent and effective than the stand-alone PRP treatment.
How Does Amniotic Tissues (BioD) Treat Hair Loss?
All Human Amniotic Tissues offered by Amarillo Hair Restoration Center are obtained from donated, full-term, and live birth pregnancies. Donors go through a comprehensive screening process and are tested in accordance with standards established by FDA requirements to minimize risks of disease transmission to recipients.
BioD is a human-derived Extracellular Matrix (ECM) allograft produced from medically screened, sterile-harvested, healthy cryopreserved donor amniotic placental tissue. Human amniotic tissues are "immune-privileged" and therefore rarely cause an immune response in the human body. In addition, this tissue has been shown to have anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and anti-adhesive properties. The extracellular matrix assists in the migration and proliferation of the patient's own cells to the site of injury or defect. In addition, BioD contains a bioscaffold as well as powerful proteins that activate stem cells, reduce inflammation and have other benefits.
BioD tissues can be used in hair restoration treatments in combination with PRP to stimulate, rejuvenate and repair the hair follicles. This combination is more effective than the stand-alone PRP treatment yet not as potent as the stem cell treatment.
